Site: This 5 acre site was assessed for farming suitability. The conditions of its historic farmhouse and outbuildings were examined to anticipate repairs.
Assessment:
- Situated on southeast facing slope, this land proved to be ideal for farming since it is located within a thermal belt where air temperatures are most consistently moderate.
- The land benefits from solar reflection off of Lake Galina, located across the road.
- Building inspections revealed that the historic stone farmhouse required minor structural repairs and one outbuilding needed demolition or reconstruction.
Outcome: The buyers decided that the land accommodated their farming agenda and that the identified building repairs were manageable; Peace Valley Lavender Farm was born.
